Step 1: (1) To create a MATLAB structure named maxtempData and find the station with the lowest average temperature, follow these steps in MATLAB: Define the Structure : Use the struct function to create a structure array. Each structure will contain fields for 'station', 'average', 'normal', 'highest 2020', and 'lowest 2020'. Fill the Data : Populate the structure with the relevant data for each field from the table provided in your Climate Report. Find the Lowest Average Temperature : Use a loop or MATLAB functions to search through the 'average' field for the lowest temperature and retrieve the corresponding station name. Here is a sample code snippet that outlines these steps: % Example data definition (you will replace these with your actual data) maxtempData = struct('station', {}, 'average', {}, 'normal', {}, 'highest_2020', {}, 'lowest_2020', {}); stations = {'Bela Bela', 'Polokwane', ...}; % Add all station names averages = [29.7, 28.5, ...]; % Add all average temperatures normals = [28.5, 27.6, ...]; % Add all normal temperatures highests = [40, 37, ...]; % Add all highest temperatures of 2020 lowests = [15.8, 17, ...]; % Add all lowest temperatures of 2020 % Fill the structure array with data for i = 1:length(stations) maxtempData(i).station = stations{i}; maxtempData(i).average = averages{i}; maxtempData(i).normal = normals{i}; maxtempData(i).highest_2020 = highests{i}; maxtempData(i).lowest_2020 = lowests{i}; end % Find the minimum average temperature [min_avg, idx] = min([maxtempData.average]); % Display the station with the lowest average temperature fprintf('The station with the lowest average temperature is %s with an average of %.2f degrees.
', maxtempData(idx).station, min_avg); Here is complete Matlab Script: % Define the structure array maxtempData maxtempData = struct('station', {}, 'average', {}, 'normal', {}, 'highest_2020', {}, 'lowest_2020', {}); % Manually entering data from your provided screenshot (please replace with all data) maxtempData(1) = struct('station', 'Bela Bela', 'average', 29.2, 'normal', 28.5, 'highest_2020', 40, 'lowest_2020', 15.8); maxtempData(2) = struct('station', 'Polokwane', 'average', 28.5, 'normal', 27.6, 'highest_2020', 35, 'lowest_2020', 16.5); maxtempData(3) = struct('station', 'OR Tambo', 'average', 26.3, 'normal', 25.8, 'highest_2020', 39, 'lowest_2020', 15.3); % Add remaining stations similarly... % Example to add more data (You need to fill in all the missing station data as per your data source) maxtempData(4) = struct('station', 'UF Exp Farm', 'average', 24.5, 'normal', 23.8, 'highest_2020', 38.5, 'lowest_2020', 12.5); % Initialize variables to track the station with the lowest average temperature lowestAverage = maxtempData(1).average; lowestStation = maxtempData(1).station; % Loop through the structure to find the station with the lowest 'average' temperature for i = 1:length(maxtempData) if maxtempData(i).average < lowestAverage lowestAverage = maxtempData(i).average; lowestStation = maxtempData(i).station; end end % Output the station with the lowest average temperature fprintf('The station with the lowest average temperature is %s with an average of %.2f degrees.
', lowestStation, lowestAverage); Output of Above code: Explanation: In this code: Replace the ... in the arrays ( stations , averages , normals , highests , lowests ) with the actual data from your Climate Report. This script initializes an empty structure and populates it within a loop. It finds the lowest average temperature and prints the station name along with the temperature. Step 2: (2) To extract the "Average" values from the structure maxtempData into a cell array called averageValues , you can use the following MATLAB code. This approach utilizes a loop to iterate over each element of the structure array and store the corresponding average temperature in the cell array: MATLAB Code to Extract Average Values: % Assuming maxtempData is already defined and populated % Initialize a cell array to store the average values averageValues = cell(length(maxtempData), 1); % Extract the average values from the structure array for i = 1:length(maxtempData) averageValues{i} = maxtempData(i).average; end % Display the cell array containing average temperatures disp(averageValues); Complete Script Matlab: % Define the structure array maxtempData with some sample data maxtempData = struct('station', {}, 'average', {}, 'normal', {}, 'highest_2020', {}, 'lowest_2020', {}); % Manually populate the structure with data maxtempData(1) = struct('station', 'Bela Bela', 'average', 29.2, 'normal', 28.5, 'highest_2020', 40, 'lowest_2020', 15.8); maxtempData(2) = struct('station', 'Polokwane', 'average', 28.5, 'normal', 27.6, 'highest_2020', 35, 'lowest_2020', 16.5); maxtempData(3) = struct('station', 'OR Tambo', 'average', 26.3, 'normal', 25.8, 'highest_2020', 39, 'lowest_2020', 15.3); % Please add the remaining stations similarly. % Initialize a cell array to store the average values averageVal
